Dr. John Shiau is a Board-Certified Neurosurgeon well recognized and respected nationally for his participation and contributions towards the advancement of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. With over thirty years of neurosurgical experience, his ever-growing reputation and expertise in minimally invasive neurosurgery have earned him consideration as a leader in the field. Dr. Shiau prides himself in providing his patients with the best and true minimally invasive neurosurgical care possible.
At an early age, Dr. John Shiau earned early acceptance into Harvard Medical School, The Juilliard School of Music and ultimately his alma mater, The University of Michigan.
Dr. John Shaiu was rigorously selected nationwide to part of the only ten students out of state to attend the University of Michigan’s Seven Year Medical Program in 1983.
After graduation from Mount Sinai Residency Program in 1997, Dr. Shiau studied in Mainz, Germany, becoming fellowship trained in Minimally Invasive and Endoscopic Neurosurgical Technique from Johannes Gutenberg University Hospital.
Dr. Shiau treats neurosurgical and spinal trauma patients flying in from all parts of the United States to his home base offices located throughout New York and New Jersey. He focuses on minimally invasive surgical correction of numerous spine and nerve-related pathologies, with a particular interest in outpatient surgery.
